Indian Railways good news: In a significant good news for the commuters of Indian Railways, Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has announced that passengers will now be able change the travel date of their confirmed train tickets online without any extra fee. Notably, earlier, the passengers had to cancel the previously booked ticket and then book new ticket along with the risk of losing the confirmed ticket and the cost of cancellation. Here are all the details you need to know about what the Railway Minister has said on the new rule of Indian Railways.

As per the earlier rule, if an user cancels a railway ticket between 48-12 hours before departure, the cancellation would result in a 25% deduction from the fare. Moreover, the cancellation fee increases further if the ticket is cancelled between 12 and 4 hours before departure. Refunds are not provided once the reservation chart is prepared.

Cabinet approves 4 multi-tracking railway projects

In another update, the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA), chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi approved four multi-tracking railway projects with an investment of Rs 24,634 crore across four states. The four projects covering 18 districts across Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, and Chhattisgarh will increase the existing network of Indian Railways by about 894 kms, a report by IANS news agency said.

The projects include Wardha-Bhusawal – 3rd and 4th line – 314 kms (Maharashtra); Gondia-Dongargarh – 4th line – 84 kms (Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh); Vadodara-Ratlam – 3rd and 4th line – 259 kms (Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh) and Itarsi-Bhopal – Bina 4th line – 237 kms (Madhya Pradesh), according to an official statement.
