It is part of Vision 2030.

New Delhi: US President Donald Trump was administered the oath of the office on January 20 and immediately after assuming charge, he announced and signed several stringent executive orders. One of the orders calls for the deportation of all the illegal immigrants living in the USA.

The US government has said that strict action will be taken against illegal migrants, which include thousands of Indians. In the first batch, nearly 18,000 Indian nationals will be deported.

Same is the case with Canada which has tightened its immigration policies and has capped the number of international students at 505,162 for the year 2025. This decision will extensively affect Indian students seeking opportunities for education and employment in Canada.

Meanwhile, there is a piece of good news for migrant workers, including Indians, from Saudi Arabia. On January 21, 2025, Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development introduced a new policy to eradicate forced labour wages. This decision marks a significant step towards protecting and preserving the rights and welfare of migrant workers.

This initiative is part of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s Vision 2030 which aligns Saudi Arabia with global standards in labour rights.

One of the largest oil producers, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA), also became the first Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) nation to implement the 2014 Protocol of the International Labour Organization’s Forced Labour Convention.

Sattam Al-Harbi, the Kingdom’s Deputy Minister in the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development (MHRSD) stressed that the policy demonstrates Saudi Arabia’s commitment to creating a safe work environment for everyone living and working in the Kingdom.

There are about 26 lakh Indians residing in KSA and this dogma is expected to bring major relief and ensure better conditions for Indian workers across various sectors.
