miHoYo has announced that Genshin Impact will no longer be available for PlayStation 4 users starting April 8, 2026. The popular free-to-play RPG will be removed from the PlayStation Store on September 10, 2025, and support for the PS4 version will gradually phase out over the following months.

The reason behind this move is the growing hardware limitations of the PlayStation 4. According to miHoYo, the aging console can no longer keep up with the game’s increasing demands in terms of performance and file size.

The discontinuation will happen in three steps:

  1. September 10, 2025 – The game will be removed from the PlayStation Store. New users on PS4 will no longer be able to download it. However, players who already have the game in their library will still be able to re-download it.
  2. February 25, 2026 – All in-game purchases will be disabled. Players will not be able to buy any items using real money from this date onward.
  3. April 8, 2026 – The PS4 version will officially stop working. No more updates will be released, and players will not be able to log into the game on PS4 after this date.

Players can switch to the PlayStation 5 version, which will continue to receive updates and new content. miHoYo is also encouraging players to bind their PlayStation accounts to other login methods, so they can access their progress on other platforms like PC, iOS, or Android.

Genshin Impact launched on PS4 in September 2020 and quickly became a fan-favorite. But as the game world has expanded with more content and higher technical demands, it is no surprise that older hardware is beginning to fall behind.
