New Delhi: Former Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar was admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi on Monday, 12 January 2026, after he suffered two bouts of fainting last week. Following these two incidents, doctors advised him to be admitted to the hospital for precautionary reasons and to undergo tests, including an MRI, said officials.

On January 10, Dhankhar experienced two episodes of fainting while going to the washroom. He had gone to AIIMS on Monday, 12 January 2026, for a routine check-up, but the doctors decided to admit him immediately, given his condition.

This is not the first time Dhankhar has faced such difficulties in public life. Even while serving as Vice President, he had fainted on several occasions during public events in the Rann of Kutch, Uttarakhand, Kerala, and Delhi.

Jagdeep Dhankhar resigned from the post of Vice President on July 21 last year, citing ill health. In his resignation letter, he clarified that his priority was now his health and that he was relinquishing his responsibilities with immediate effect to seriously follow medical advice.
