Bihar Election 2025: With the announcement of Bihar’s polling dates by the Election Commission, the stage has been set for the major political battle, increasing the political movement in the state. The EC on Tuesday issued directions to the Chief Secretary and Chief Electoral Officer of Bihar for the strict implementation of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) in the state. Notably, under the MCC, the Centre as well as the Government of Bihar cannot announce any policy.
What’s ECI’s Plan To Ensure Strict MCC Compliance In Bihar?
The Election Commission has directed the Chief Secretary and Chief Electoral Officer of Bihar to ensure strict compliance to the guidelines regarding elimination of defacement from government, public, and private properties.
- ECI has warned against misuse of government vehicles and official accommodations by political parties or their candidates.
- Making Advertisements using public funds has also been strictly prohibited.
- In order to ensure quick action, ECI has deployed 824 flying squads across the state.
- The flying squads will address complaints within 100 minutes.
What Did The Election Commission Say?
“The privacy of citizens must be respected, with no demonstrations or picketing outside private residences. Land, buildings, or walls shall not be used for flags, banners, or posters without the owner’s consent,” the ECI said. The commission has also set up a complaint monitoring system and a 24/7 Call Centre (1950) where people can lodge their complaints.
It is worth noting that voters and political parties both can report MCC violations on C-Vigil App on ECINET. ECI also restricted transfer of all officers/officials connected with the conduct of elections.

How Many Candidates Will Be In Jan Suraaj Party’s First List?
As per reports, 32 candidates from Prashant Kishore’s Jan Suraaj Party are competing for tickets in all seven assembly constituencies of the district. Party’s national president Uday Singh is going to announce the first list of 100 to 150 candidates.
According to District Public Service, a total of 32 candidates from Bhagalpur have filed their nominations. Out of which seven (highest) are contesting from the Bhagalpur Assembly constituency and only two (lowest number of candidates) are contesting from from the Pirpainti Assembly constituency.
A report from Jagran, citing sources, hints that candidates for Bihpur, Sultanganj, and Pirpainti are highly likely to be announced in JSP’s first list. Candidates from other assembly constituencies may be announced in the second list.
Notably, JSP’s decision for the contenders for the Bhagalpur seat will depend on NDA and Grand Alliance’s candidate announcements.
RJD Offers 54 Seats, Congress Wants 75
Meanwhile, Congress Central Election Committee (CEC) held a meeting to discuss the candidates and seat sharing. Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge attended the crucial meeting virtually and brainstormed to deliberate on nearly 75 seats. As per a report by NDTV, citing sources, RJD has offered 54 seats to the grand old party. The report further states that the CEC is currently examining the allocated seats, and the official announcements of candidates are expected once the Mahagathbandhan finalises its arrangement for sharing seats.
Bihar Election 2025 Dates Announced
The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Monday announced that the Bihar Assembly elections will be held in two phases, scheduled for November 6 and November 11. The results will be announced on November 14.
