Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Vidyalaya defeated Dnyandeep Seva Mandal by six wickets to win the 123rd Giles Shield Cricket Tournament. The new champions lifted the MSSA organised trophy inside two days in the three-day final at MCA’s BKC ground.

Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar finishing their first innings at 204 all out in 79.1 overs on the second day. Om Lokhande yet again was the star of the bat, making 81 off 94 balls laced with 12 fours and 2 sixes. Umair Nadeem grabbed a five-wicket haul, (5-65) in 31.1 overs.

Batting again on the same day itself, Dnyandeep Seva Mandal were 192 all out in their allotted 40 overs. Piyush Kumar made 59 off 66 deliveries with six boundaries. Aayush Chavan grabbed (3-79) while Advit Tiwari also picked three wickets. Needing just 56 for victory, the Babasaheb unit chased it down in 28.2 overs, losing four wickets in the process. Anup Yadav picked (3-23).

Winning the toss and electing to bat first on Monday, Dnyandeep Seva Mandal were bundled out for 67 in 33.5 overs. Medium pacer Lokhande snapped up a seven-wicket haul, (7-29) in 12 overs. Advit Tiwari grabbed (3-9) in 8.5 overs. Om stuck to his game plan, keeping things simple in the middle and was thus rewarded with heaps of wickets. In reply, Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar made 97-6 in 47 overs at stumps on day 1.

For the very first time in the history of the tournament SG Balls are being used in every game.
