Operation Sindoor: In a significant turn of events, Director General Military Operations Lt Gen Rajiv Ghai, one of the leaders of Armed Forces who led India’s Operation Sindoor, revealed that Pakistan suffered more than 100 casualties during Operation Sindoor, as reflected by the number of posthumous awards given on its Independence Day. Notably, the four-day conflict between India and Pakistan saw intense exchanges along the Line of Control, where the Indian Army launches airstrikes on various terror launchpads of Pakistan killing more than a hundred terrorists.

However, the situation de-escalated after Islamabad appealed for a ceasefire, which was eventually agreed upon following DGMO-level talks between the two sides. The operation marked one of India’s most assertive military responses in recent years, demonstrating both strategic restraint and decisive capability.

What DGMO Lieutenant General Rajiv Ghai said on Operation Sindoor?

“It’s in the late 80s that this problem started in Jammu and Kashmir. Since then, we’ve had more than 28,000 terror incidents. Since the 90s, we’ve had more than 100,000 people from the minorities who have been compelled to move out of Jammu and Kashmir, a migration of more than 60,000 families… 15,000 innocent civilians and more than 3000 security personnel have been killed, and it’s very clear where this is coming from,” DGMO Lieutenant General Rajiv Ghai said on Operation Sindoor has said on the operation.

“Pakistanis possibly unwittingly let out their awards list last month on the 14th of August, and the number of posthumous awards that they awarded suggests to us now that their casualties on the LoC were also in excess of 100… Actions were carried out on the LoC and we were prepared for this,” he said.
