Prayagraj: The sacred confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati rivers, the Triveni Sangam continues to witness an overwhelming influx of devotees on the third day of the 45-day-long Maha Kumbh that began on January 13. On the first two days, over 50 million devotees take holy dip in Prayagraj’s Sangam Ghat. It is considered as the largest religious human gathering on the planet. The first Amrit Snan of Maha Kumbh 2025 was held on Tuesday on the occasion of Makar Sankranti. The Uttar Pradesh government, led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, welcomed the devotees with a grand flower shower from helicopters while devotees chanted ‘Jai Shree Ram’ and ‘Har Har Mahadev.’.
Taking on X (formerly Twitter), Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday expressed gratitude to all the departments and organizations involved in the successful execution of the first Amrit Snan of Mahakumbh. He stated, “On the successful completion of the first Amrit Snan festival, heartfelt thanks to all the revered Akharas based on Sanatan Dharma, Maha Kumbh Mela administration, local administration, police administration, sanitation workers, voluntary organizations and religious institutions, boatmen and all the departments of the central and state government associated with Maha Kumbh and congratulations to the people of the state.”

Maha Kumbh 2025: Safety and security arrangements
Over 10,000 security personnel, including local police and paramilitary forces have been deployed at the Sangam Ghat. The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has deployed a “water ambulance” at the Sangam. The Water Ambulance is equipped with medical facilities and staffed by doctors and officials, to operate 24/7 throughout the festival. Additionally, underwater drones, 2,700 AI-enabled cameras have been installed in and around Mela Ground to ensure the event remains secure for the millions of attendees.
Maha Kumbh 2025: Robust transportation facilities
The Indian Railways are operating 13,00 trains including 3,000 special trains to accomodate smooth arrival of devotees to Prayagraj. This extensive transportation system makes it possible for pilgrims from all over the nation to easily participate in Maha Kumbh 2025, reflecting the event’s scope and significance.
