Delhi Assembly Elections 2025 LIVE Updates: The Delhi Assembly election will be held in a single phase today (February 5), with counting to happen on February 8, 2025. For the past decade, AAP, led by Kejriwal, has held a strong grip on Delhi’s political scene, achieving sweeping victories in the 2015 and 2020 elections. Before AAP’s emergence, the Congress governed the capital for 15 uninterrupted years under Sheila Dikshit’s leadership. Meanwhile, the BJP has remained out of power in Delhi for 27 years, with its last tenure concluding in 1998.

The incumbent AAP, which currently has more than 60 seats in the 70 seat assembly seeks re-election while appealing to their previous work done in their previous two tenures. Current Delhi Chief Minister and AAP leader Atish, is contesting in Kalkaji assembly constituency. She is going to be against Congress’ Alka Lamba, and BJP’s Ramesh Bidhuri. It is to be noted that 70 assembly constituencies in Delhi will go to polls at 7 AM on February 5(today) to elect their representatives for the 8th Assembly.

Voting is scheduled from 7 AM to 6 PM under stringent security arrangements. To ensure a smooth electoral process, the Election Commission has stationed 220 paramilitary force companies, along with 35,626 Delhi Police personnel and 19,000 home guards.
