Delhi-NCR Weather Forecast: As residents of the Delhi-NCR region breathe a sigh of relief after cold wave conditions eased, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted rain in several parts of Delhi-NCR on January 23 and 24. According to the weather update, showers are also expected in North Indian states, including Punjab, Haryana, and Rajasthan. Additionally, there are predictions of a cold wave returning to the region in the coming days.
Rain in Delhi-NCR
According to IMD Scientist Naresh Kumar, snowfall in the hilly areas and rain in the plains are expected due to a fresh western disturbance. With the influence of two western disturbances, showers and snowfall are anticipated in the western Himalayas, including Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand, in the coming days.
There is a possibility of rain in Punjab, Haryana, Western UP, Delhi NCR, North Rajasthan on the 22nd and 23rd. Dense and very dense fog will also prevail in Punjab, Haryana, North Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. It will prevail till coming two to three days,” Kumar said.
Dense Fog Expected
The weather department also predicted dense fog in Punjab, Haryana, UP, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, and Rajasthan in the coming two to three days. Visibility is expected to reduce by 50 to 200 mts.
Delhi Temperature
On Monday morning, the skies in the National Capital were clear, but the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted maximum and minimum temperatures to be around 24 and 11 degrees Celsius, respectively. On Sunday, the maximum temperature reached 26.1 degrees Celsius, which is 6.5 degrees above the normal level. The minimum temperature recorded was 9.1 degrees Celsius, exceeding the seasonal average by 1.6 degrees. Additionally, the Air Quality Index (AQI) deteriorated to ‘very poor’ with a reading of 362 at 6 pm, following a ‘poor’ rating of 263 at 7 pm on Saturday.
Trains Delayed Due To Fog
Yesterday, heavy fog caused delays for 41 trains departing from different stations in the national capital. Among the affected trains are the Kir-Asr Express (15707), Lichchvi Express (14005), Gorkhdham Express (12555), Purushottam Express (12801), and Mahabodhi Express (12397). The Railways has recommended that passengers verify the most recent train schedules prior to starting their travels.
