Container Truck Rolls Down Slope, Crashes Into Century Bazaar Bus Stop; Driver Booked For Negligence | Representational Image

Mumbai: Panic gripped the Century Bazaar area in Prabhadevi on the afternoon of August 7 after a container truck rolled down a slope and crashed into a bus stop, causing significant damage but no injuries were reported in the incident.

The incident resulted in heavy traffic congestion along the busy Worli-Dadar route. The Dadar Police have registered a case of negligence against the truck driver.

Truck Rolls Uncontrolled in Worli, Smashes Bus Stop

According to the police, the incident occurred around 3 PM. The container truck was parked on a slope near the Oberoi 360 West Tower in Worli, where unloading activities were underway. However, proper safety precautions were reportedly not taken to prevent the vehicle from rolling downhill.

As a result, the truck began moving on its own along the slope, eventually entering the main road. Panic ensued among pedestrians and commuters as the truck rolled ahead uncontrollably. The driver is said to have jumped out of the vehicle and fled the scene.

No Injuries Reported, Heavy Traffic on Worli-Dadar Route

Within seconds, the truck crossed the road divider and crashed directly into the Century Bazaar bus stop. Although no one was injured in the accident, the bus stop sustained extensive damage. The truck came to a standstill right in the middle of the road, blocking traffic on both sides.

Police intervened and managed to remove the truck, restoring normal traffic flow after some time. The Dadar Police have launched an investigation and are reviewing CCTV footage from the scene to gather evidence.

Driver Jumps Out, Flees Scene; Booked for Negligence

Preliminary findings suggest that the accident occurred due to the driver’s negligence in securing the vehicle properly. A case has been registered against the driver, and further investigations are underway.
