Satna (Madhya Pradesh): The Congress legislator’s statement comparing Sadhus with bulls has kicked up a political uproar across the state. Immediately after the statement, the BJP leaders began to tear into the Congress legislator Rajendra Singh. Singh made the statement at a function organised by the Congress in Satna on Wednesday.

Now that his remark has kicked up a row, the legislator gave a clarification on his statement. He released a video on Thursday, saying many people differently interpreted his statements.

The Sadhus, Sants and Mahamandleshwars are not supposed to work for any particular political party. In the video, he said they may have empathy for some political parties, but promoting any political outfit was not the right thing to do for them.

The people of India follow all religions, he said.   But cabinet minister Vishvas Sarang tore into the Congress legislator for his statement against Sadhus and Sants and demanded the party leadership to act against Singh.

If the party fails to act against Singh, his remark will be considered an official statement of the Congress, Sarang said. The Congress has been insulting the Hindu gods and goddesses and Sanatan Dharma, Sarang said. The MPCC president was present on the stage from where the statement was made, Sarang said. Such a statement is not only unfortunate but also intolerable, he said.
