Indore: Congress Demands Action, Party Leaders Gherao Division Commissioner’s Office, Submit Memo | GPlus
Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Congress leaders on Wednesday protested at the Division Commissioner’s office seeking strict action against the culprits of the multi-crore scams in the Indore Municipal Corporation. They alleged that the scamsters were being protected by the state government and the municipal corporation, both led by the BJP.
The protest was organised by the Congress Committee, District Congress Committee, and Congress corporators’ group under the leadership of State Congress president Jitu Patwari and former minister and senior leader Sajjan Singh Verma.
Among the leaders who took part in the protest were Satya Narayan Patel, Chintu Chouksey, Leader of Opposition in IMC, Surjeet Singh Chaddha, Sadashiv Yadav, and IMC’s Congress corporators.
The protesters alleged that the money that was being given to the corporation by the citizens in the form of tax was being sacrificed to corruption.
In the memorandum submitted to the Divisional Commissioner, the Congress leaders stated that for the last 10 months, scams related to drainage work were regularly coming to light in IMC.
Earlier, a fake file scam had come to light where a payment of Rs 1,000 cr was allegedly released on forged signatures. In this matter, the police registered a case and arrestedsome people, including IMC employees. Recently, another case of a fake file of Rs 11 crore has come to light.
The leaders alleged that Rs 20,000 crore was spent by the corporation on cleaning andchannelisation of the drains, but there was no account of the expenditure. Yet, the whole city seems to be grappling with sewerage problems, they alleged.
In this situation, an impartial inquiry should be conducted into the fake file and drainage scam of the IMC, they said. The government should form a high-level committee to investigate the scams. Action should then be taken based on the committee’s report, they said.
