The Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath, addressed the gathering of Kirtan Samagam in Lucknow on December 26. The ceremony was held in remembrance of the sacrifices of the sons of Guru Gobind Singh. The Chief Minister also praised the Prime Minister for recognising the demand of the Sikh community for dedicating the day to honour the Sahibzadas.

Sahibzades remembered on Veer Baal Diwas

Veer Baal Diwas marks the martyrdom of Sahibzada Zorawar Singh and Sahibzada Fateh Singh. They were the younger sons of the tenth Sikh guru, Guru Gobind Singh. The two were executed by the Mughal forces after refusing to get converted to the Islam religion.

CM Yogi say about the declaration of Veer Baal Diwas

CM Yogi said, “The history of Sikh Gurus is radiant and powerful. Gurunanak Dev ji Maharaj is a light of devotion. What he did at that time for humanity without bowing and stopping showed impact, even though there were fewer means then.”

He also added, “The Prime Minister listened to the voices of Sikhs across the country and, respecting their dedication, declared December 26th as Veer Baal Diwas.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on X wrote, “On the sacred Parkash Utsav of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji, we bow in reverence to him. He remains an embodiment of courage, compassion and sacrifice. His life and teachings inspire us to stand for truth, justice, righteousness and to protect human dignity. Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji’s vision continues to guide generations towards service and selfless duty. Here are pictures from my visit to the Takhat Sri Harimandir Ji Patna Sahib earlier this year, where I also had Darshan of the Holy Jore Sahib of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji and Mata Sahib Kaur Ji.”
