BJP presents Delhi Budget after 27 years: CM Rekha Gupta focus on clean drinking water, allocates Rs 9,000 crore
The Bharatiya Janata Party which stormed itself to power after 27 years in national capital, on Tuesday presented the Delhi budget with major focus on drinking water, new industrial policy and old sewer lines.
Proposing Rs 28,000 crore for capital expenditure, CM Gupta said that their aim is to establish infrastructure in Delhi. “… Delhi was handed over to us in a manner in which there was no infrastructure… Our aim is to establish infrastructure in Delhi… Now, Delhi will be discussed but not only for traffic jams… This megacity turned into an anarchist capital because of damaged roads, traffic jams and incomplete projects… More money was spent on national advertisements than government projects…”
“… To develop infrastructure for better connectivity with the NCR region, Rs. 1000 crores are allocated..,” she added.
Gupta said, “… For women’s safety, more than 50,000 cameras will be installed. Rs 3843 crores are allocated for road and bridge infrastructure. Rs 696 crores have been allocated to provide basic facilities in slums and JJ colonies…”
