Chittaranjan Locomotive Works (CLW) inaugurated a two-day Vendors Development Meet on Friday, organised by the Stores Department on September 12–13, 2025. The event was inaugurated by Vijay Kumar, General Manager, who lit the ceremonial lamp at the Chittaranjan Club.
Welcoming vendors from across the country, Kumar underlined their role as partners in progress rather than mere suppliers. He encouraged participants to share ideas openly, focus on quality over cost, and strengthen collaboration with CLW. “By working together, vendors not only help us meet production targets but also tap into the growing demand for locomotives across Indian Railways,” he said, assuring that concerns would be addressed through transparent dialogue.
Highlighting CLW’s commitment to ease of doing business, Shri Kumar promised smooth and speedy vendor registration processes. He urged vendors to align their production with international standards to make Indian locomotives export-ready.
Earlier, Shri Ravindra Prasad, CMM/TM, recalled that CLW has been hosting vendor meets since 2014–15 to inform stakeholders about the latest railway policies. Shri Sanjay Verma, CMM/HQ, stressed the vast opportunities for vendors within Indian Railways and described them as crucial partners in achieving transportation goals. Other senior officers, including Shri K.K. Goyal (PFA) and Shri Harish Mittal (CEE/Design), also addressed the gathering.
As part of the meet, the General Manager inaugurated an exhibition showcasing 66 items identified for vendor development, followed by active vendor participation in an open-house session with CLW officials on procurement-related issues.
The event witnessed the participation of principal heads of departments, senior officers, and a large number of vendors from across the country. The meet will conclude on Saturday, September 13, 2025.
