Mumbai Rains: Cloudy Skies & Intermittent Showers Predicted In City Today; Humidity Remains High | Photo: File

Mumbai: Mumbai and its surrounding suburbs are expected to experience cloudy skies with intermittent light to moderate rainfall on Thursday, July 31, 2025. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast scattered showers across the city, with some areas like South Mumbai, Dadar, Sion, Andheri and Kurla likely to record moderate rainfall through the day.

The weather is expected to remain warm and humid, with maximum temperatures hovering between 30 to 32 degrees Celsius and minimum temperatures settling around 24 to 26 degrees. High moisture content in the air, with humidity levels ranging from 80 to 90 percent, will add to the discomfort and make the atmosphere feel sticky and oppressive.

Light To Moderate Showers Predicted Across City

In southern parts of Mumbai, including areas like Colaba, Marine Drive and the Gateway of India, light to moderate showers are expected and authorities have urged people to avoid venturing too close to the seafront due to the risk of high waves. The western suburbs such as Andheri, Bandra and Jogeshwari may receive moderate rain, especially in the afternoon or evening hours, which could lead to waterlogging in some low-lying regions. Eastern suburbs including Kurla, Ghatkopar and Chembur are also expected to witness similar weather patterns, with overcast skies and occasional showers that may slightly impact road traffic and train services.

Light Rains In Neighbouring Region

Navi Mumbai and Thane are likely to experience rain during the latter part of the day, with the temperature ranging between 24 to 30 degrees Celsius. The overall impact on daily life is expected to be manageable, but minor delays in public transport services are possible due to intermittent showers. In nearby Palghar, the intensity of rain is expected to be lower compared to Mumbai, with only light showers predicted and no specific weather alert in place.

Konkan Gets Relief From Heavy Rainfall

Meanwhile, the coastal districts of Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg and Raigad, which were under an orange alert earlier this week due to heavy downpours, have seen a pause in rainfall. Though skies remain cloudy, rain activity has reduced considerably and only limited drizzle is expected. However, humid conditions persist in these coastal belts, adding to the discomfort. At present, no new alerts have been issued for these Konkan districts.
