Bengaluru: Bengalurians are set to experience a sunny day on Thursday, February 20, 2025, and it will remain the same throughout the day. The weather department has predicted that temperatures are also likely to increase in a few days.

The residents of the city have been experiencing an unusual weather pattern, with temperatures soaring above normal. The India Meteorological Department has forecasted that the city is set to experience hotter summers in 2025.

The city has witnessed the Sunrise at 6:40 AM it is likely to set at 6:27 PM. Meanwhile, the minimum and maximum temperatures are expected between 19 degrees Celsius and 32 degrees Celsius, respectively.

The humidity level is expected to range around 60 per cent. Today, the wind is expected to blow steadily from the East at a speed of 14 km/h and the Air Quality Index (AQI) is expected to stand at 116 which indicates moderate air quality in the city and it’s adjoining areas. The weather department said that the heatwave is likely to affect coastal and northern regions of Karnataka in the upcoming days.

Why are temperatures rising in Bengaluru?

According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), the lack of northern winds is a key factor contributing to the rising temperatures in the city. These northern winds play a crucial role in regulating temperatures.

Additionally, the ongoing La Niña phenomenon is another reason for the hot and humid weather. This phenomenon, which cools the ocean in the equatorial Pacific, significantly impacts global weather patterns, including those in Silicon City, India.

The IMD predicts sunny weather for Friday, February 21, 2025. The minimum and maximum temperatures will likely hover around 19 degrees Celsius and 32 degrees Celsius respectively. The humidity will likely to be around 59 per cent. The wind will blow steadily from the East at 14 km/h. The city is predicted to witness the Sunrise at 6:40 AM and the Sun is expected to set at 6:27 PM.
