What is the government’s statement?
It is important to note that government sources have clarified that TikTok is still banned. In a statement to the Economic Times, officials said that no order has been issued allowing TikTok to restart operations in India.

On August 22 as well, officials had denied reports about TikTok’s return to India. At that time too, there were claims that TikTok had become accessible in India for the first time in five years.
What changed on the website?
Earlier, while opening the TikTok’s website, it used to say that the service was not available in India. But since last week, when opened on desktop, the company’s About Us page started appearing. However, the videos were still not playing. Until Saturday, TikTok’s mobile website also wasn’t opening on desktop, and videos were not visible either.
