  • Netizens Think She Secretly Manifested This Diamond In One Of Her Songs

Netizens Think She Secretly Manifested This Diamond In One Of Her Songs

Selena Gomez is officially engaged! The singer and actress, 32, announced her engagement to music producer Benny Blanco on Wednesday, December 11, sharing a glimpse of her breathtaking engagement ring and a sweet moment from the proposal.

“Forever begins now..,” Gomez captioned an Instagram carousel featuring close-ups of her sparkling ring and candid snaps of the couple.

A rare Marquise diamond for a rare talent

Selena’s engagement ring features a stunning marquise diamond, a shape known for its elongated oval design with pointed ends. The piece is set on a diamond eternity band, adding extra brilliance to an already dazzling center stone.

Ann Grimmett, VP of Merchandising at Jared Jewelers, estimates the diamond to be about 6 carats, with an approximate value of $225,000. “Selena Gomez’s engagement ring is fitting for a talent as rare as hers given less than 5% of diamonds are marquise,” Grimmett shared in a press release. “The shape represents that what’s old is new again, with a history dating back to the 18th century, but also represents the trend to elongated fancies that we have seen growing rapidly over the past few years,” she added.

What originally inspired the formation of Marquise diamonds?

Marquise diamonds have a rich history, originally commissioned by King Louis XV of France in the 18th century. The shape was inspired by the smile of his mistress, the Marquise de Pompadour. Since then, marquise diamonds have been associated with elegance, royalty, and timeless beauty.

Notably, marquise engagement rings are becoming increasingly popular.

Selena’s engagement announcement post also gave fans a look at the intimate proposal setting. The pop star shared a photo of herself sitting outdoors on a beige picnic blanket, surrounded by cozy blankets and a picnic basket. Adding a fun personal touch, multiple boxes of Taco Bell -Gomez’s favorite-were part of the moment.

The carousel also included a close-up of Selena and Benny embracing and laughing, with the star proudly showing off her new ring. Blanco, 36, commented on the post, “hey wait … that’s my wife.”

    From colleagues to forever

Gomez and Blanco’s love story started long before their relationship turned romantic. The two collaborated on the 2019 single “I Can’t Get Enough” with Tainy and J Balvin, but it wasn’t until June 2023 that they started dating. In August 2023, Gomez released “Single Soon,” a track produced by Blanco, and later confirmed their relationship on Instagram with a sweet comment: “He is my absolute everything in my heart.”

Their love became public when the couple made their red carpet debut at the 2024 Emmys in January.

A ring fit for a queen

With less than 5% of diamonds being marquise, Selena Gomez’s engagement ring is as unique and rare as the star herself. Combining its regal history with modern trends, the ring is a true reflection of Gomez’s timeless style and personal story. Fans can’t wait to see what’s next for the couple as they embark on this exciting new chapter together.

As Gomez aptly put it, “Forever begins now.”

    Priyanka Gandhi’s Parliamentary Debut

In her maiden speech as a Member of Parliament, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra did not shy away from the ongoing debate on parivarvaad (dynastic politics). Mamta Banerjee and INDIA bloc

West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee and INDIA bloc nowadays are attracting headlines. Reason behind this a feeler which was initiated by some TMC leaders that Mamata could lead the bloc better. Now experts see a hidden agenda behind this – one, Congress, led by Rahul Gandhi, not at all effective to sail through the bloc because in the recently held four states assembly polls, the party’s performance was very poor. Second, by raising this issue the TMC want to get rid of the black spot of the RG Kar Hospital’s rape case of a female doctor, third, if Mamta goes to the national politics, the Bengal reigns may be given to her loyal or to Abhishek. TMC is not interested in getting involved into EVM controversy, because the party has won three consecutive assembly polls in the state while Congress is blaming EVM for the party’s defeat. This move of the TMC is bound to give some solid outcome in days to come.

Priyanka Gandhi turns heads with ‘Palestine’ inscribed bag in Parliament

Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra made headlines after entering the ongoing Parliament session carrying a tote bag emblazoned with the word “Palestine” in vibrant colours.

The tote bag featured not only the word Palestine but also included a symbol of a white dove, which symbolizes peace, along with a watermelon, which is trending on social media to express symbolic support for Palestine.

The gesture of solidarity comes amid the massive Israeli military offence in Gaza and other occupied territories which began on October 2023.

Our country is known for its vastness and the history of its democracy. Their mindset raises serious questions”.

BJP Rajya Sabha MP Gulam Ali Khatana said, “People do such things for news. When they have been rejected by the people, they resort to such actions.”

Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Saturday criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s speech in the Lok Sabha, calling it “absolutely boring” and devoid of anything new or constructive.

Speaking to the media, Priyanka Gandhi said, “PM Narendra Modi did not say anything new or constructive. He absolutely bored me. I thought he would say something significant, but he spoke about 11 hollow promises. If he has zero tolerance towards corruption, he should at least hold a debate on Adani.”

Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav commented that the speech was a reiteration of “11 jumlas.”

“It was a very long speech. We got to hear the pledge of 11 jumlas today. Those who criticise dynastic politics have a party full of dynasties. The truth is that the reservation for SC/ST, OBC, and Dalits has been taken away. A day will soon come when a caste census will be conducted, and people will receive their rights and respect according to their population,” Yadav said.

Congress MP KC Venugopal also dismissed the speech, claiming it lacked substance.

“It was just a blame game against Congress. Yesterday and today, we exposed that their government is now running for Adani. They talk about the Constitution but are using it to benefit one individual, creating a monopoly. When we discuss the Constitution in Parliament, they show no respect. Today, when the Leader of the Opposition spoke, the PM, Home Minister, and Defence Minister were absent,” Venugopal said.

Congress MP Mallu Ravi said the Prime Minister fixated on the Gandhi family.

“He keeps criticising Jawaharlal Nehru and Indira Gandhi. He is focused solely on the Gandhi family, which brought independence and the Constitution to this country. We are upset with this,” Ravi said.

Congress MP Praniti Shinde described the PM’s speech as a mere blame game.

“His entire speech was just a blame game. Such a speech is unworthy of a Prime Minister. I am shocked he did not use the word ‘secular’ even once. He should remember that he became Prime Minister through the Constitution, whose foundation was laid by Congress,” Shinde said.

Samajwadi Party MP Awadhesh Prasad expressed disappointment that the PM did not highlight achievements since the adoption of the Constitution.
“It was expected that he would discuss accomplishments and what new initiatives could be undertaken. Instead, he indulged in a blame game, which will not help anyone,” Prasad said.

SP MP Iqra Hasan criticised the PM for ignoring local issues in his speech.

“We are disappointed that he (PM Modi) spoke about the Constitution but did not address the issues of Sambhal, law and order in Uttar Pradesh, minority rights, or the Manipur crisis. He failed to address the people’s concerns,” Hasan said.
Congress MP Manickam Tagore said the speech fell short of expectations.

“We hoped he would speak on 75 years of constitutional history. Instead, he delivered an election speech. It was completely disappointing. He should have focused on strengthening the Constitution. This was just electoral rhetoric,” Tagore said.

Trinamool Congress MP Saugata Roy remarked that while the PM expressed his views, he did not address criticisms.

“He spoke against dynasties but did not respond to questions about riots or atrocities against women. His speech was combative, but he only said what he wanted,” Roy said.
On the other hand, NDA leaders praised the Prime Minister’s address.

Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan (Lalan) Singh said, “The PM held up a mirror to the Congress, detailing how they undermined the Constitution during their rule. Congress has tainted the Constitution, and the PM exposed this thoroughly.”

  • Supreme Court Agrees To Examine Plea Seeking Pan-India Safety Guidelines For Women

Supreme Court Agrees To Examine Plea Seeking Pan-India Safety Guidelines For Women

New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Monday issued notice to various ministries of the union government on a petition seeking pan-India safety guidelines and reforms for the protection of women.

A bench of justices Surya Kant and Ujjal Bhuyan asked the Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Law and Justice, and Ministry of Women and Child Development among others to file a reply to the petition filed by the Supreme Court Women Lawyers Association (SCWLA).

Senior Advocate Mahalakshmi Pavani appearing for SCWLA urged the top court to issue pan-India safety guidelines, reforms and Measures for the Protection of Women.

    About The Case

The petitioner has sought various directions under the pan India implementation of ‘safety and security measures and guidelines/rules for Women’ for the protection of women all across the country.

The top court also observed that a few demands are innovative and important like social behaviour in public transport and it should be displayed in all transport forums.

Among other prayers, the petitioner has also demanded to initiate a complete ban on unrestricted free online pornographic content by implementing robust safeguards to prevent its dissemination.

From Nirbhaya Rape Case to Abhaya, the brutality has only manifested into an animalistic expression against women, the petition said and submitted further that instead of politicizing sensitive issues, the government as well as each politician must pay more attention to the safety of vulnerable citizens and should increase the funds allocated for the purpose of security of women, children and third gender community alike.

“The harsh reality is that India awakes when there is a media trial which happens only in a few horrifying rape cases which jolt and traumatize the public. The slogan of the central government stating ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ echoes the fact that women are unsafe in the womb and on the road, and therefore, the slogan needs to be changed to ‘Beta Padhao, Beti Badhao’ which sends the message that if men are literate and sensitive to women then women will be empowered to reach their respective goals and can live in a safe environment,” the petition said.

The petitioner urged the top court to safeguard the fundamental rights of women, children and the third gender in our nation, which encompass their right to safety, a secure workplace, adequate sanitation, personal dignity, bodily integrity, and a safe environment.

‘Court Bears An Overarching Obligation,’ Says The Petitioner

The petitioner submitted that the Court bears an overarching obligation under the doctrine of parens patriae to serve as the protector and steward of its citizens’ rights. Therefore, it is imperative at this juncture for the Court to activate this principle to uphold and preserve the rights of the women of our country.

“In the absence of effective legislation or executive action, the judiciary must step in to address any legal vacuums. The Court may even issue directives that resemble legislative action to safeguard fundamental rights until appropriate laws are enacted,” the petitioner said.

The petitioner also urged the top court that the Law Commission should look into bringing about changes that all sexual offenders should undergo chemical castration immediately upon arrest and be subjected to an immediate polygraph or lie detector test.

It is submitted that, in light of the global trend and success in reducing recidivism rates, chemical castration must be implemented in India as a mandatory punishment for sexual crimes. Various countries, including Russia, Poland, South Korea, Pakistan, Indonesia, Turkey, and at least eight US states, have already enacted laws permitting chemical or surgical castration.

“Considering the reported drop-in reoffending rates from 40% to between zero and 5% (Scandinavian research), and the need to protect vulnerable populations, particularly women and children, it is imperative that India adopts this measure. It is also urged that every convict under section 376 IPC and Section 63 BNS, 2023 shall be punished with life imprisonment and permanent castration in cases of horrendous rape and murder of female and child victims,” the petition urged.

Petitioner Demands An Immediate Set Up Of “The National Sex Offenders Registry”

The petitioner also demanded an immediate set up of “The National Sex Offenders Registry” which must be readily available on an online platform for easy access to all the women so that they can easily recognize such repeated sexual offenders and take precautionary measures accordingly as it is currently available only to the Law enforcement agencies.

Besides this, it also demanded that every school should have gender sensitivity classes along with sex education and regular workshops by qualified child psychologists and counsellors where boys and girls are taught about biological changes in the body during teenage years and how to handle them in a healthy manner, principles, values and ethics and to respect gender parity.

The petitioner submitted that in view of the alarming rise in adolescent-related issues relating to lack of correct knowledge about gender equity, life skills, sexual harassment and abuse, legal ages for marriage, juvenile delinquency, etc.

The petitioner further submitted that the installation of functional CCTV systems at every workplace and organization in our country is a pre-requisite for curbing the exploitation of women by her seniors and employers.

The petitioner also urged for a gender sensitization committee under the POSH Guidelines, 2013 in every government institution/office, public sector undertaking, hospital, court, library, women’s hostel, jail, prison, orphanage, nursing home, research laboratory, remand homes, sports academies/institutes, banks, waiting rooms at bus stations, waiting rooms/lounges at railways stations and airports, etc. to implement the directions issued by the top court in the recent case of Aureliano Fernandes v. State of Goa.
