BrahMos missiles: In a significant development days after India attacked nine terror camps of Pakistan and PoK killing more than hundred terrorists, Union Home Minister Amit Shah recently said that the indigenously developed BrahMos missiles destroyed Pakistani air bases during Operation Sindoor. As a result of the dynamic and precision strikes from the Brahmos missiles, countries like Thailand, Singapore, Brunei, Brazil, Chile, Argentina, Venezuela, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Oman are reportedly lining up to buy the BrahMos missiles. However, there is a twist.

How BraMos helped in Operation Sindoor

Addressing a function here, Shah said while surgical strikes and the airstrike in the past were limited to the Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir (PoK), India penetrated 100 km inside Pakistan’s border under Operation Sindoor and eliminated terrorists and their hubs.

Permission for selling Brahmos missile system

Notably, the Brahmos missile system is a joint collaboration between India and Russia and India’s share in the partnership is 50.5% and Russia’s is 49.5. Therefore, a permission will be required from Russia before India sells the missiles to any other country.

Indigenously developed BrahMos missile

“As our indigenously developed BrahMos (supersonic cruise missile system) worked to destroy Pakistan’s air bases, its own air defence system, borrowed from China, remained unused.

“Our Air Force carried out precise attacks and inflicted heavy damage on many places in Pakistan which were considered impregnable. Operation Sindoor will be written in golden letters when the history is written on the border safety,” he said.

Operation Sindoor was launched by the Indian armed forces in the wake of the Pahalgam terrorist attack in which 25 Indians and one Nepali citizen were killed.
