Dame Sue Black, a renowned forensic scientist, described the trade as “extremely dangerous” and said people are breaking into graves to steal remains for profit. “If selling a bird’s nest is illegal, why not human remains? No one wants their grave dug up and body sold,” she remarked.

Pointing out at the loophole, expert Dr Trish Beers of Cambridge University pointed out that the market has seen a sharp rise in recent years, which is fueled by social media platforms.
