Bombay HC Warns Manoj Jarange-Patil Over Unlawful Azad Maidan Protest, Seeks Full Normalcy In Mumbai By 3pm | File Photo
Mumbai: The Bombay High Court on Tuesday came down heavily on Maratha quota activist Manoj Jarange Patil and his supporters, directing them to comply with its orders or face contempt proceedings along with exemplary costs. The court made it clear that it wanted complete normalcy restored in Mumbai and asked the Maharashtra government to explain the steps being taken by 3 pm.
During the hearing, Jarange’s counsel informed the court that all vehicles belonging to his supporters had left the city. The bench, however, sought detailed information, asking for the exact number of vehicles and the names of their owners. The stern observations came amid continuing unrest caused by the Maratha quota agitation that has entered its fifth day.
Earlier in the day, the Railway Police cleared agitators from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT), reopening the crucial road link to JJ Bridge after four days. The move brought relief to commuters who had faced traffic snarls and diversions since the protest began.
This is breaking news. More details are awaited.
