Mumbai: The BMC’s Skill Development Centre at Kandivali (East) has enabled employment for over 12,000 youth through job fairs in the past six months. Civic officials claim that the centre is emerging as a key hub for job-oriented training, opening up opportunities not just in Mumbai, but across Maharashtra. .
MoU Signed with NSDC to Build Demand-Driven Training Ecosystem
The BMC’s Planning Department has initiated collaboration with the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) to bridge the critical gap between industry requirements and available workforce skills. As part of this initiative, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed to establish a structured, demand-driven skill development ecosystem.
CII Appointed as Lead Implementing Agency by NSDC
To ensure smooth and effective execution, NSDC has designated the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) as the lead implementing agency for the Skill Development Centre.
Courses Offered in Hospitality, Tech, Animation, Cybersecurity & More
The centre offers a diverse range of training programs tailored for both young men and women. Courses are available in fields such as hotel management, sales and business operations, air-conditioning system repair, textile and garment industry skills, Photoshop, 3D animation, VFX, cyber security, Japanese language training, doorstep food delivery services, basic computer literacy, artificial intelligence, and financial literacy. The duration of these training programs varies from one week to one month, depending on the subject.
Centre Offers Annual Training for 10,000 Youth With OJT Support
A senior civic official said, “The centre trains around 10,000 students annually, offering classroom and two-month on-the-job training. Along with technical skills, it focuses on interview preparation and personality development. Training is delivered using modern facilities in partnership with reputed organisations like NASSCOM, CII Foundation, Bajaj, and ITC Hotels.”

Prachi Jambhekar, Director (Planning), stated that students or individuals from their respective civic wards interested in enrolling for training at the centre should contact their ward office or call the helpline number 8452945439.
