Karur Stampede: The blame game in the Karur stampede has started as the death toll mounts to 41 on Monday. Actor-turned-politician Vijay’s party Tamizhaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) on Monday reached the Madras High Court and urged it to refer the probe of the tragedy to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). The party has taken the decision citing concerns over the impartiality of the state police. General Secretary of TVK’s Election Campaign Management Aadhav Arjuna submitted a plea and alleged that the Tamil Nadu government led by MK Stalin, including the police, acted in a partisan manner.
Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu Police rubbished any intelligence failure, stating that Vijay arrived late to the rally and people had been waiting to take a glimpse of him almost the entire day.
Karur Stampede: What The Petition Claimed?
According to the petition, the authorities allotted narrow and unsuitable venues to TVK rallies and the power was also repeatedly cut during events. Goons also barged into the rallies and started hurling stones and slippers at the actor-turned-politician and his fans.
