Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh): A bizarre video of a saree-clad woman, performing ‘tantrik’ rituals in the middle of the road is going viral on social media. The incident is said to be of Deen Dayal chowk in Jabalpur. The viral clip has raised questions on the superstition practices in the country while some netizens slammed the woman as ‘mentally unwell.’
The 19-second video shows the woman engaging in what appears to be a tantrik ritual while a bottle containing a red substance is placed nearby. The incident has led to mixed speculations, while some considered it a spiritual practice and others questioned her mental stability.
Cops launched an investigation
Jabalpur police has come into action after the video went viral on social media. ASP Suryakant Sharma stated that the police station in-charge of the concerned area has been directed to locate and question her. “The woman may be mentally unstable or performing a specific tantric ritual. We are verifying all possibilities,” he also added that this is not the first time that such an incident has occurred in Jabalpur.
Earlier, a similar case was filed after a woman in Madan Mahal police station was seen praying on the street.
Police assured counselling
Police officials have clarified that the woman will be counseled after the women is identified. And If she is found to be mentally unsound then appropriate medical assistance will be provided.
On the other hand, if the act is linked to superstition, authorities will advise her against performing such rituals in public places. “These activities not only disrupt traffic but also create fear and confusion among citizens. We urge people not to spread rumors and report such incidents to the police instead,” said a police spokesperson
