Mumbai: With an aim to arrest illegal Bangladeshi nationals residing in various districts of the state, the Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has launched a special drive. According to the reports quoting ATS sources, these Bangladeshi citizens are living in the country illegally, posing a potential threat to national security. Agency sources also revealed that there are many private entities working with defense establishments to nab these migrants.

The authorities are making the agencies aware of the importance of conducting background checks on all employees to ensure they are citizens of the country.

In a recent case, a terrorist from Babbar Khalsa International was caught working as a crane operator at a metro construction site. He was found with multiple identity cards, indicating he had worked on metro projects in Lucknow and Delhi. Additionally, he had worked on Mumbai’s first metro line project from Versova to Ghatkopar, which was completed in 2008.

Campaign to Arrest Bangladeshi Nationals

The Devendra Fadnavis-led Maharashtra government is arresting illegal Bangladeshi migrants residing in the state and handing over the case to the local police. Efforts are underway to determine if there is a larger pattern behind this. Following this, a report will be prepared and submitted to the government. The objective of the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) is clear: to provide the government with a comprehensive report to completely halt this illegal infiltration.

The Growing Number of Anti-National Elements

After the coup in Bangladesh, two members of the Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT) were released from prison, according to the reports. There are currently numerous anti-national elements out of Bangladeshi jails. These individuals are suspected of collaborating with illegal Bangladeshi immigrants in the country to carry out terrorist activities, with possible involvement from Pakistan’s intelligence agency, ISI.

Steps to Prevent Honey Trap

Honey traps have always been a concern for India. In recent times, several cases in Maharashtra have revealed that Pakistani intelligence operatives have ensnared individuals working in the Indian defense establishment in honey traps.

These operatives have also attempted to gather sensitive intelligence about the country. To combat this problem, the Maharashtra ATS and local police are planning special sessions for employees to prevent such incidents, ensuring that no one falls victim to honey traps.
