Pune: Big Update On Shivajinagar To Hinjawadi Metro; Trial Run Expected Soon, Launch By October 2025 |
As the city continues to face troubles due to heavy traffic congestion, Punekars traveling from Pimpri Chinchwad to Pune are finding themselves lucky, as they reach their destination within 35 minutes for a fare of just 35 rupees. Now, several thousands of Punekars are eagerly waiting for another route that will help resolve the traffic menace in the city: the Shivajinagar to Hinjawadi Metro. In good news for them, with 82 percent of the work completed, the project has reached a significant milestone, and the trial run will be held soon.
According to metro authorities, “Only one kilometer of viaduct work is pending. Once most of the work is completed, a route safety inspection will be conducted, and the metro will be launched by October.”
“The construction of the Baner, Sakal Nagar, and Civil Court metro stations is still ongoing, with work on key facilities, including stairways, pending at 11 other stations. Only one kilometer of viaduct remains to be completed for the metro project. Once the structural work is finalized, the metro will undergo thorough safety inspections followed by a trial run, bringing the project closer to its operational phase,” the official added.
The work on the Shivajinagar to Hinjawadi metro line is progressing at full speed, though it was delayed due to restrictions imposed during the election period and breaks for VIP movement. The metro will help resolve the traffic issue in Hinjawadi once the line opens. Earlier, it was said that the line would start by summer. This 23.3 km-long Line 3 will not only enhance daily commutes but also boost development and ease traffic congestion across the city.
