The cabinet has also approved new job recruitments in several departments, with a focus on creating more opportunities for the youth.
The Bihar government on Tuesday approved 49 new proposals covering administrative, social, and economic sectors, bringing major relief to contract workers and Panchayati Raj employees. The decisions were made during a key cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar at the state secretariat. One big change is for Gram Kachhari Secretaries, whose monthly pay has been increased from Rs. 6,000 to Rs. 9,000.
The government has also raised the duty allowance for Bihar Home Guard members, along with salary hikes for technical assistants and accountant-cum-IT assistants.
- Technical Assistants: Their pay has gone up from Rs. 27,000 to Rs. 40,000 per month.
- Accountant-cum-IT Assistants: Their honorarium has been increased from Rs. 20,000 to Rs. 30,000 per month.
Starting July 1, the revised honorarium will take effect, directly benefiting thousands of contractual workers who have been demanding a raise for years. The cabinet has also approved new job recruitments in several departments, with a focus on creating more opportunities for the youth. These include:
- Hiring more teachers in the Education Department.
- New positions in the Art and Culture Department.
Officials explained that these steps aim to tackle unemployment while also strengthening education and cultural infrastructure across the state.
Other key approvals include:
- New development schemes for various departments.
- Infrastructure projects for urban and rural areas.
- Changes in service conditions to improve efficiency and employee satisfaction.
Notifications for these proposals will be issued in the coming days to begin their implementation.
With elections around the corner, these announcements are being seen as part of the Nitish Kumar government’s strategy to connect with key groups including rural workers, contractual employees, and young job seekers by addressing their needs and expectations.
