Antilia: Mukesh Ambani is the richest person in the country and is counted among the world’s richest personalities. The Ambani residence Antilia in Mumbai is also one of the most expensive houses in the world. It is a 27 floor building located in Mumbai. It has parking for 168 cars on just six floors. As of now, the price of Antilia is around 15,000 crores rupees. Located on Altamount Road in Mumbai’s Cumballa Hill, Antilia has been built on 1.120 acres of land. In 2014, it was declared the world’s most expensive house. The construction cost around 6,000 crores rupees and took four years to complete. The Ambani family initiated the construction in 2006, and it was completed in 2010. It not only stands tall but also has the capacity to withstand earthquakes of up to 8 on the Richter scale. Kareem Bhai Ibrahim, very wealthy person, built an orphanage in 1895. It was specifically built for children who had no parents and who were part of the Khoja community. The operation of this orphanage was managed by the Waqf Board. In 2002, the trust sought permission to sell this land. The charity commissioner from the government granted permission to sell it a few months later.
Mukesh Ambani’s Antilia Commercial Private Limited purchased it at that time for 2.5 million dollars. However, at that time its market value was 1.5 billion dollars. After purchasing the land, the Ambani family sought permission to construct a building on it after completing the paperwork. In 2003, the BMC approved the plan to build this building, and construction began in 2006.
Antilia is named after an island in Spain and it was designed by the American architecture firm Perkins and Will.
