Following Donald Trump’s return to power in the United States, several major decisions are being implemented. While the tariff dispute is still making headlines, the US Embassy in India has now canceled over 2,000 visa appointments, citing fraudulent activities as the reason. According to reports, there were complaints of irregularities in some visa applications, which prompted the embassy to take this action. The US Embassy revealed that some individuals had violated the appointment scheduling system, leading to the cancellation of their visa slots.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the US Consular Team India announced that they had identified around 2,000 visa appointments made through fraudulent means, violating their scheduling policies. As a result, they immediately canceled these appointments and suspended the scheduling privileges of the associated accounts.

The embassy also confirmed that they are investigating the matter further to prevent such incidents in the future.

Delhi police files case against visa agents over fraudulent activities

Following the US Embassy’s report on visa fraud, the Delhi Police registered a case against several visa and passport agents on February 27. According to the embassy, these agents submitted fake documents on behalf of applicants, deceiving the US government in the process.

As per reports, the US Embassy had conducted an internal investigation between May and August last year. During the probe, they identified 30 agents involved in the fraudulent activities, all linked to multiple suspicious IP addresses.

The police are now investigating the agents and their role in the scam, while the embassy continues to take strict measures against such fraudulent practices.
