New Delhi: In a significant war of words amid the US-India tensions on trade and tariffs, Florida’s Governor Ron DeSantis has slammed the H-1B visa program, which is a classification of non-immigrant visa in the United States that allows US employers to hire foreign workers in specialty occupation, thereby allowing Indian Information Technology (IT) workers to work in the United States. Terming it a “total scam”, Ron DeSantis has claimed that the H-1B visa program allows companies to replace American workers with foreign labour, Florida’s Governor Ron DeSantis has claimed that US companies often train American workers alongside H-1B visa holders but they lay off the American employees to hire the foreign workers, as reported by ANI news agency.
DeSantis added that the H1B visa practice is unacceptable and hurts American workers during an interview on Fox News, the ANI report said.
