New Delhi: In a significant development on Monday, Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla, who was the pilot of Axiom-4 Space Mission to the International Space Station (ISS), meets Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Here are all the details you need to know about the meeting between Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla and PM Modi and why the meeting is important.

What PM Modi said on meeting Shubhanshu Shukla?

“Had a great interaction with Shubhanshu Shukla. We discussed a wide range of subjects, including his experiences in space, progress in science and technology, as well as India’s ambitious Gaganyaan mission,” PM Modi shared in a post on social media platform X.

“India is proud of his feat,” he added.

Who is Shubhanshu Shukla?

For those unversed, Shukla was part of the Axiom-4 commercial mission to the ISS from June 25-July 15. The group captain met the prime minister at his Lok Kalyan Marg residence. In the recent meeting, PM Modi welcomed Shukla, who was wearing an ISRO astronaut’s jacket, with a warm hug and walked with him with his arm on the astronaut’s shoulder, a report by PTI news agency said.

The PTI report also said that Shukla gifted the prime minister the mission patch of the Axiom-4 mission.

Why Shubhanshu Shukla’s meeting with PM is important?

Notably, Shubhanshu Shukla, the Lucknow-born astronaut shared pictures he had taken from the ISS with PM Modi. Returning to Earth on 15 July, Shukla was part of the Axiom-4 private space mission that lifted off from Florida on June 25 and docked at the International Space Station on June 26.
