Apple has finally released Apple TV apps for Android devices. The app has been designed to work fine on smartphones, tablets, and foldables. Along with the app, Apple TV+ streaming service and MLS Season Pass are also coming to Android.
The app is now available to download from the Play Store. Users can create an Apple account on their Android device and subscribe to Apple TV Plus and MLS Season Pass using Google Play billing.
Apple says that the Apple TV app for Android has been built from the ground up. It offers a similar interface and features like offline downloads, saved watchlists, and a “continue watching” feature that syncs your watch history across different devices.
The key difference between the Apple and Android versions of the Apple TV app is the lack of an in-app Store on the Android app. So, the app doesn’t allow renting or buying movies and TV shows from the Android app.
Apple introduced the Apple TV app and Apple TV+ subscription back in 2019 and has been gradually expanding platform support. Initially, it was launched for iOS, Mac, streaming devices, and select Smart TVs. Later it was added to Chromecast with Google TV, NVIDIA Shield, and other Android TV models in 2021.
