Apple Fitness+ is finally launching in India on December 15, almost five years after the service was introduced globally in 2020. This rollout is part of Apple’s biggest expansion for Fitness+ so far, bringing the platform to 49 countries and regions. Apple has clearly taken its time with the India launch, and the wide feature set shows how much the service has evolved since its debut.

People who don’t know, Fitness+ is Apple’s subscription-based wellness platform that focuses on guided workouts, studio-style sessions, and deep integration with Apple devices. It aims to make fitness more accessible, especially for users who prefer at-home workouts or want structured guidance.

Fitness+ offers 12 types of workouts, covering Strength, HIIT, Yoga, Pilates, Dance, Cycling, Kickboxing, and Meditation. Sessions can be as short as five minutes or go up to 45 minutes, so users can pick something that fits their schedule. The workouts work on iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV, but Apple Watch users get the complete experience.

The integration with Apple Watch is one of the strongest selling points. You can see live metrics like heart rate, calories burned, and Activity Rings right on the screen while working out. Features like “Burn Bar,” which compares your effort with anonymized data from other users, add a bit of motivation without feeling too competitive.

Apple is giving a big push to personalization. The Custom Plans feature builds a weekly workout and meditation routine based on the user’s preferences—activity type, trainer, duration, and even music choice.

Music also plays a major role in Fitness+. The service ties directly into Apple Music and features curated playlists across genres. As part of the expansion, Apple is adding a dedicated K-Pop music category for workouts. This joins the existing mix of upbeat genres like Hip-Hop, Latin, and Pop.

Fitness+ is not limited to studio sessions. It comes with unique content formats that add variety:

  • Time to Walk: Audio-guided walks featuring stories and music from notable personalities. The latest episode highlights F1 driver Yuki Tsunoda, while past guests include Jane Fonda and Shawn Mendes.
  • Artist Spotlight: Entire workout playlists dedicated to a single artist. Names like Taylor Swift, Coldplay, BTS, and Beyoncé already feature in the library.
  • Collections: Curated workout packs designed with specific goals in mind. Examples include “Run Your First 5K,” “No Shoes Workouts,” and “Pilates for More Than Your Core.”
  • Meditation: 12 themed meditation sessions focusing on Calm, Sleep, and mindfulness.

Pricing and Availability in India

Apple Fitness+ will be available in India from December 15. Pricing is straightforward:

  • Monthly: Rs. 149
  • Yearly: Rs. 999

The subscription supports Family Sharing, so up to five others can use the same plan.

Apple is also offering three months of free access for users who buy eligible devices like the Apple Watch, iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, AirPods Pro 3, or Powerbeats Pro 2.

To use Fitness+, users need an iPhone 8 or later running iOS 16.1 or newer. If you want to pair it with an Apple Watch, it works with Watch Series 3 or later.

Although it took a long time, Apple brought the mature version of the service instead of rushing the initial version here. The pricing is surprisingly reasonable, especially with the family sharing option.

Along with India, Apple Fitness+ is also launching in several new regions, including Chile, Hong Kong, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Singapore, Sweden, Taiwan, Vietnam, and more. Apple is also adding German and Spanish dubbing, and the Japan version with local language support is coming next year.
