Apple’s ambitious Apple Intelligence revamp for Siri has officially been delayed, and it looks like we might not see the upgraded version until iOS 19. The new, smarter, and more personalized Siri was supposed to be one of the biggest Apple Intelligence features. It was initially expected in the iOS 18.4 update. However, as beta versions roll out, Siri’s AI overhaul is missing. Reports now suggest the delay could push it into the summer—or beyond.
Apple has confirmed that the revamped Siri is taking longer than expected. While many assumed it would launch sometime in the iOS 18 cycle, Apple’s statement now hints at a more extended timeline.
An Apple spokesperson told Daring Fireball:
“We’ve also been working on a more personalized Siri, giving it more awareness of your personal context, as well as the ability to take action for you within and across your apps. It’s going to take us longer than we thought to deliver on these features, and we anticipate rolling them out in the coming year.”
That phrase—”in the coming year”—is what raises concerns. It suggests that the wait could extend beyond iOS 18.4 or even iOS 18.5.
What the New Siri Was Supposed to Bring
Apple had promised major AI-powered improvements to Siri, including:
Personal Context – Siri will track emails, messages, files, and even personal information to help users complete tasks. You could ask Siri to find emails mentioning specific topics, retrieve a passport number, or locate a recipe a friend sent you.
Onscreen Awareness – Siri will understand what’s on your screen and interact with it. For example, if a friend sends an address via iMessage, you could ask Siri to add it to their contact card.
Deeper App Integration – Siri was expected to gain better control over apps, allowing users to move files, edit photos before sharing, or send drafted emails with just a voice command.
What’s Next for Siri?
With WWDC 2025 set for June and iOS 19 expected in September, Apple may decide to push Siri’s AI-powered upgrade as a headline feature of the next major iOS release rather than rolling it out in bits and pieces through smaller updates.
For now, Apple users will have to wait longer than expected to see if Siri’s AI transformation lives up to the hype – or if it gets delayed even further.
