Filmmaker Anubhav Sinha recently revealed that he has not spoken to Ajay Devgn in the last 18 years, despite having no conflict with him. He shared that after Devgn starred in his 2007 directorial Cash, they did not meet each other. However, he feels that tweeting about people’s political views a few years ago, where he commented on Ajay, might be the reason for the rift.
Speaking to The Lallantop, Anubhav shared that he has no idea why Ajay does not speak to him, and they haven’t even met for him to ask why he is being ignored by Ajay. While he feels that he might be ‘overthinking’ the situation, he revealed that he texted Ajay a couple of times but never received a response. “I told to myself that maybe it slipped his mind or he must have missed my message. But, its been about 18 years since we have spoken,” added Sinha.
Anubhav furthermore shared that they never had any disagreements. He added, “Ajay was among my favourite actors. I loved him both as an actor and an individual. He is fun to be with. He is like ‘yaaro ka yaar’. Ajay is always the first one to be there for a friend in need.”
The director said “In between, I did comment on people’s political views, so I must have told him something too. But he was not the only person I commented about. I have said things to various people, but I still maintain good relations with them all. I am his admirer and I really respect him as an actor and individual.”
A few years ago, during the 2020 JNU violence that divided not just the nation but also Bollywood celebrities, Ajay broke his silence on the issue and tweeted on X, “I have always maintained that we should wait for proper facts to emerge. I appeal to everyone- let us further the spirit of peace and brotherhood, not derail it either consciously or carelessly #JNUViolence.”
While Ajay’s tweet did not go well with Anubhav, he slammed him and wrote, “Exactly!!!! I am still waiting. You done waiting????”
