Bihar Assembly Election: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday attacked the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) for fielding Osama Shahab, the son of late gangster-turned-politician Mohammad Shahabuddin, in the upcoming Bihar Assembly Election, asking how the opposition party could ensure people’s security if it gives tickets to such candidates.

Shah hails ‘Jeevika Didis’ scheme

The RJD, which is heading the Mahagathbandhan opposition alliance in Bihar, has fielded Osama Shahab from the Raghunathpur assembly constituency in Siwan district.

Addressing a poll rally in Bihar’s Saran district, the BJP veteran asserted that the incumbent NDA will return to power in the state with the largest majority in 20 years, as he hailed the ‘Jeevika Didis’ scheme under which the ruling dispensation dispersed Rs 10,000 into the bank accounts of women beneficiaries in Bihar.

“People of Bihar are celebrating four Diwalis this year — on the day of Diwali, on the day when the NDA government transferred Rs 10,000 into the accounts of ‘Jeevika Didis’, on the day when GST was reduced, and on November 14, when the results of the elections will be announced,” Shah said.

‘Nitish freed Bihar from jungle raj’

The Home Minister also asserted that Chief Minister Nitish Kumar liberated Bihar from ‘jungle raj’ in the last 20 years, and claimed that the NDA government in the state has successfully curbed migration.

“So much infrastructure work has been done in Bihar that it doesn’t even take five hours to travel from one corner of Bihar to another. This development has been done together by PM Narendra Modi and CM Nitish Kumar. Before our government came here, migration, extortion, murders, and kidnappings were common,” he said.

Amit Shah claimed terrorists used to play Holi with blood during the UPA rule at the Centre, but the Modi government struck terror camps inside Pakistan.

Polls for the 243-seat Bihar Assembly are scheduled to take place on November 6 and November 11, with the counting of votes to follow on November 14.
