Mumbai: Leader of Opposition in the Maharashtra Legislative Council, Ambadas Danve, has accused the government of allowing businessman Mohit Kamboj to wield significant influence over the Water Resources Department. Danve claimed that even senior officials in the department seek Kamboj’s approval before making decisions.
Danve called for an investigation into the alleged ties between Kamboj and senior officials, particularly Deepak Kapoor, urging the government to scrutinise their call detail records (CDR) to uncover potential undue influence.
“Who is Mohit Kamboj, and how does he have the authority to intervene in government decisions?” Danve questioned in the legislative council. He further claimed that Kapoor does not make a move without consulting Kamboj, raising concerns about political interference in administrative matters.
Danve also criticised the government on various other matters, including rising crimes against women and the deteriorating law and order situation in the state, Karnataka-Belagavi border dispute and issues faced by farmers.
Danve strongly criticised the Governor’s address, stating that while it claimed the government was making progress, the reality was starkly different.
