Former Tihar Superintendent Sunil Gupta in a recent interview made many startling revelations and also accused former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal of shielding VVIPs. According to former superintendent Sunil Gupta, liquor bottles were also found in Sahara chief Subrata Roy’s cell. Sunil Gupta also said that he had complained about this to the then CM Arvind Kejriwal. But he did not take any action.

Sunil Gupta, while revealing the facilities given to Subrata Roy in Tihar Jail, said, “Subrata Roy was not kept in jail, he was kept in the court complex. He had to return a lot of money to his investors. Subrata Roy had told the court that he will have to sell my properties and most of his buyers are in Europe or Western countries. Subrata Roy had told the court that he should be kept in such a place where I can talk to my buyers through video conferencing.”

He said that Subrata Roy was locked in the complex at night. Whereas other prisoners are locked in their cells as soon as night falls. Subrata Roy had said that he should be kept locked from outside in the court complex at night. The court accepted his request. So Subrata Roy was not locked. Sunil Gupta, who was the PRO of Tihar Jail, said that he was provided with full food facilities. “We also recovered liquor bottles from his cell. The court had also given permission to Subrata Roy to keep a private secretary. Subrata Roy had kept a female secretary as his secretary. He said that the court had given permission to Subrata Roy to avail the facilities of the secretariat. But now he was calling an air hostess.”

Sunil Gupta said that this continued for about six months, girls kept coming. “I was upset and went to Kejriwal. I had to pay for this. The week I was retiring, a chargesheet was filed against me. This happens in India. This chargesheet was for financial irregularities,” Gupta said.

Businessman Subrata Roy Sahara was in Tihar Jail from March 2014 to May 2016. He was arrested on the orders of the Supreme Court in the case of not returning about Rs 24,000 crore to investors. Initially he was kept in jail, but later under special circumstances he was given the facility of video conferencing in the jail premises so that he could proceed with the process of selling his assets. Sahara India Group chief Subrata Roy died on the night of 14 November 14 2023 in a private hospital in Mumbai.
