Delhi blast update: Accused who helped suicide bomber make explosives arrested

In the latest update linked to the interstate terror module case, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) arrested Amir Rashid Ali on November 16. Ali is another accused who’s allegedly involved in helping the suicide bomber, Umar Un Nabi. According to the court papers, he was an active participant in arranging and buying the required materials. The NIA has taken him into custody for 10 days under suspicion of terrorism. 

What was the role of Amir Rashid Ali in the Delhi blast?

Amir Rashid Ali was a key individual and was a close aide of the suicide bomber, Umar Un Nabi, as per reports. Multiple reports are suggesting that the court papers hinted at Ali’s involvement in providing the logistics-related support. Alongside, he even bought the required materials to make the Improvised Explosive Device (IED) for the explosion, as per the court papers.

Background of Delhi Blast Case

On November 10, a powerful explosion took place near Delhi’s Red Fort area, which killed 13 individuals and injured many. The explosion was headed by a suicide bomber, Umar Un Nabi, who used a Hyundai i20 car. Further investigation revealed that the car was registered under Ali’s name.
