Team India keeper-batter Rishabh Pant continued his hilarious quips from behind the stumps as he came up with another on day three of the second Test against England at Edgbaston, Birmingham. After Mohammed Siraj’s brute of a delivery to Shoaib Bashir prompted an apology from the fast bowler, Pant said, ‘Pehle maar raha hai, phir bol raha hai’.

The incident occurred in the 90th over of the innings, with Siraj delivering his 20th. Shoaib Bashir, who had been facing his first delivery, was greeted with a well-directed short-pitched delivery that hit his helmet. Bashir had to undergo a concussion check but was fine to continue.

“These 6 wickets are very special for me” – Mohammed Siraj

The Hyderabad-born cricketer, who produced an inspired spell, taking six wickets, disclosed that he had been stuck in four wickets for a while and it’s an unbelievable feeling to take his first fifer on English soil. He told while speaking to the JioHotstar after the day’s play:

“It’s unbelievable, because I’ve been waiting for a year to get a five-wicket haul. I was always stuck at 4. The bowling was so good, but I wasn’t getting a five-wicket haul. So, this moment is very special for me. And in England, I didn’t get a fifer. So, these 6 wickets are very special for me.”

Although India lost Yashasvi Jaiswal late on day 3 for 28, the tourists still hold a 244-run lead heading into day four. They will likely look to set a target of 400-500 for the home side.
