Comedian Maheep Singh, known for his appearance as a panellist on Samay Raina’s controversial show India’s Got Latent and for his ‘Mummy Kaisi Hai’ joke, revealed that his scheduled performance in Dehradun was cancelled after members of a particular group staged a protest outside the venue. On Monday (June 30), Maheep shared a video explaining the reason behind the protest and subsequent cancellation of the show.
Maheep Singh reveals he was ‘threatened’
The comedian shared a video of one of the protestors and revealed he was threatened. Giving a glimpse of the people threatening the manager of venue, Maheep is heard saying in the video in Hindi, “They said that if we come to perform the show, they will stage an aggressive protest because our comedy is vulgar. They’ve never even seen it, but somehow they’ve decided it’s vulgar.”
‘They belong to a prominent group’
“They even threatened the manager of the mall where the show was supposed to happen. Because of that, we had to cancel the show. They belong to a very prominent group, which also includes the name of God, so we muted that part,” the comedian added in the video.
Sharing the video on Instagram, Maheep wrote, “Show cancellation vlog.”
Soon after he posted the video, many Instagram users asked Maheep to take legal action against them. “What if, everyone (you, organisers of show, mall mgmt) unite and file legal complaint against such people. That’s the best way I see to deal with the situation,” a comment under his post read.
Several users claimed that they are from ‘Bajrang Dal’. On the other hand, some users stated that they were ‘eagerly waiting’ to attend the show.
