Indore: Drug Peddler Arrested With MD Drugs Worth ₹70 Lakh | Representative Image
Indore (Madhya Pradesh): The Tejaji Nagar police arrested a drug peddler with 76 grams of MD drugs worth Rs 70 lakh, an official said here on Monday.
During security checks, police spotted a suspicious man walking near Ralamandal Road who appeared nervous on seeing the police and attempted to flee. The police nabbed him after a chase.
He was identified as Tahir alias Sandy Bala Shah, a resident of Aman Nagar, Musakhedi. On searching him, police recovered 76 grams of MD (Mephedrone) drugs, valued at approximately Rs 70 lakh, said additional DCP (zone-1) Alok Kumar Sharma said.
A case was registered against the accused under relevant sections of NDPS Act, he said, adding that further investigation revealed that Tahir had drug trafficking cases registered against him at various other police stations.
Police are interrogating the accused to gather more information regarding his drug source.
Man arrested with brown sugar worth Rs 2 L
The crime branch arrested a drug peddler and seized 20 grams of brown sugar worth Rs 2 lakh, police said on Monday.
During a routine check near the MR10 Bridge, under the railway tracks, the crime branch team spotted a suspicious man who appeared nervous on seeing the police. He was arrested and identified as Vishal Pasaya of North Musakhedi, Chirad Mohalla.
During interrogation, the accused allegedly confessed that he was addicted to drugs and had been buying narcotics at low prices to sell them at higher rates in the city to fund his addiction. It was also revealed that the accused works as a gas cylinder loading rickshaw driver and had a prior case registered against him under the Excise Act.
A case has been registered against him under Section 8/21 of the NDPS Act and further investigation is underway.
