Dhar (Madhya Pradesh): District programme officer Subhash Jain announced that Anganwadi workers who fail to monitor malnourished children will face termination.

Under the Women and Child Development Department, workers are required to measure the weight and height of children aged 0-6 at Anganwadi centres from 11th to 20th date of each month and record the data in Nutrition Tracker App.

During a review on April 15, Jain discovered that not a single child’s weight was recorded in 14 Anganwadi centres. Subsquently, notices were issued to workers of those centres by the office, after which the weight was entered by the Anganwadi workers. However, the weight entry was not found to be correct.

In order to verify the weight related entries made by Anganwadi workers, teams were formed under the leadership of project officers and weight verification was done.

Jain cautioned that if Anganwadi workers are negligent in weight verification then termination action will be taken against them.

He informed that services of Ramabai Karansingh, worker of Anganwadi Centre Patel Babli Buzurg of development block Dahi, Hindubai Amansingh, worker of Anganwadi Centre Digvi Bhankipura, Dhanbai Tersingh, worker of Anganwadi Centre Fifeda Moripura, Ranubai Dhulsingh, worker of Anganwadi Centre Wartiyapura, Santoshi Gopal, worker of Anganwadi Centre Koteshwar of development block Nisarpur were being terminated.

Moreover, a departmental enquiry will also be proposed against the supervisor of these Anganwadi centres.

He warned that negligence in addressing malnutrition will not be tolerated and strict action will be taken against both Anganwadi workers and their supervisors if issues persist.
