In Delhi, Goa and Madhya Pradesh, additional police forces have been deployed in busy areas to curb drunk driving and maintain public safety throughout the Christmas celebrations.

Goa: As Christmas celebrations begin nationwide, authorities in Delhi, Goa, and Madhya Pradesh have intensified the security arrangements to ensure safety of the residents and tourists. Additional Police personnel have been deployed at popular tourist spots and event venues. Areas with high foot traffic are under strict surveillance to ensure maintenance of public order and prevent cases like drunk driving during the festive season.

In Delhi, the Sacred Heart Cathedral Church has been beautifully decorated with lights and an intricately designed Christmas crib, adding the charm to the church, attracting worshippers and visitors. The festive decorations and the community’s shared spirit add to the season’s joy and significance.

Delhi Police have increased patrolling in markets and high-footfall areas. Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) South, Ankit Chauhan, stated that senior officers are conducting regular inspections to ensure public safety and address any potential issues.

The Goa Director General of Police (DGP) Alok Kumar, stated, “In view of the Christmas and New Year celebrations, Goa Police has made appropriate arrangements to ensure the safety of citizens and tourists.” Areas with heavy tourists movements are being closely monitored to avoid any disruptions.

Security arrangement in Bhopal

Similarly, in Madhya Pradesh’s capital state, Bhopal, similar security measures  have been implemented to avoid any mishap. Bhopal Police Commissioner Harinarayanachari Mishra has also highlighted the focus on prevention of drunk driving. “Police have made proper arrangements to ensure the festive season goes on peacefully. We take action against people driving in an inebriated state, and traffic police are advised to use breathalyzers.” He told ANI.

The festive spirit is evident across the country. Churches, markets and homes are decorated with vibrant lights, sparkling stars and beautifully arranged Christmas cribs, creating a warm and joyful environment. Markets are bustling with the excitement of shoppers hunting for Christmas trees, gifts, and seasonal treats.
