Raipur/ Sukma: The Chief Justice Ramesh Sinha of the Chhattisgarh High Court virtually laid the foundation stone for a new Civil Court building and Civil Court Staff Residential Colony in the highly Naxal affected district Sukma. During the event, Justice Arvind Kumar Verma, Judge of the Chhattisgarh High Court and Portfolio Judge, District Dantewada, were also present.
Chief Justice Sinha highlighted the importance of strong infrastructure for the efficient administration of justice in the naxal affected areas, recalling his visit to the District Court in Dantewada. He stated that the new facilities would improve the efficiency of judicial officers and staff in delivering justice. He emphasized the High Court’s commitment to establishing high-quality judicial infrastructure in every district, ensuring fair and efficient access to justice.
The Chief Justice urged the Principal District Judge and administrative officers to ensure the project’s timely completion without sacrificing quality. He envisioned the building as a model for future construction, emphasizing durability and functionality.
The new Civil Court building will be built on 2189 square meters and will include two courtrooms, a childcare/women’s common room, a men’s common room, a computer room, statistics and dispatch rooms, a legal aid room, a Nazarat section, a copying section, a central filing section, steno rooms, reader rooms, a conference hall, judges’ and court libraries, a special guest room, and a stationery room. The project has received administrative approval for ₹7.22 crore.
The Civil Court Staff Residential Colony will consist of 11 houses for employees: three ‘G’ type, five ‘H’ type, and three ‘I’ type quarters. The residential colony has received administrative approval for ₹1.30 crore, and construction is expected to be completed within ten months.
The Principal District and Sessions Judge of Dantewada delivered the welcome address, and the Chief Judicial Magistrate of Dantewada proposed the vote of thanks.
The Registrar General of the Chhattisgarh High Court, registry officers, judicial officers, administrative officers from District Dantewada, advocates, and other attendees were present at the ceremony.
