IIT Madras Signs MoU to Offer Employability-Focused Courses on SWAYAM Plus, Collaborating with Industry and Higher Education Institutions | Official Website
Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) has joined hands with industry and other higher education institutions to provide employability-oriented courses on SWAYAM Plus. The institutions will collaborate with SWAYAM Plus to motivate students to include industry-oriented courses as part of their academic curriculum.
What Is The Objective Of MoUs?
The objective of these MoUs is to persuade higher education institutions to incorporate SWAYAM Plus courses in their semester schedules. Institutions will administer proctored tests and provide academic credits to students on successful completion of these courses and their assessments.
The first phase targets the enrollment of more than 2,500 students in SWAYAM Plus courses over the next few weeks. Additionally, SWAYAM Plus plans to onboard more institutions, targeting an enrollment of over 10,000 students from various institutions who will take SWAYAM Plus courses for academic credits.
Industry Collaborations and Integration with Higher Education Institutions
The MoUs executed with industry partners will enable them to deliver employability-based courses on the SWAYAM Plus portal in an effort to enhance job prospects for learners through the provision of skills needed by industry. Collaborations with higher education institutions will allow them to integrate SWAYAM Plus courses into their curriculum. SWAYAM Plus will facilitate the delivery of these courses, including assessment and certification.
SWAYAM Plus: Highlights
– A key focus of SWAYAM Plus is to mainstream skill development in higher education.
– The platform currently offers around 350 courses from over 50 leading industry players.
– The recently signed MoUs will increase the number of courses offered. Such collaborations will encourage higher education institutions to incorporate SWAYAM Plus courses into their curriculum.
