YouTube is officially expanding its Premium Lite subscription. It offers a more affordable way to enjoy ad-free videos without paying for the full YouTube Premium plan.. The new tier, priced at $7.99 per month, removes ads from most videos but does not include ad-free access to music content. It also doesn’t offer additional perks like background play and offline downloads.

YouTube has been testing this plan in Thailand, Germany, and Australia for some time. Now, the company is rolling it out in the US, and it will be made available to all users in existing pilot countries in the coming weeks. Since it is not being launched in India yet, we don’t know its India pricing.

YouTube ads have become more frequent and longer. While watching videos, skipping through multiple ads can be frustrating. Now, I know a lot of people—including me—don’t really care about YouTube Music. That’s why the full YouTube Premium plan never felt worth it. Premium Lite finally gives an option for people like us who just want ad-free YouTube without the unnecessary extras.

YouTube Premium Lite plan just removes ads from most categories. You will have smoother binge-watching on your smart TV. It doesn’t provide offline downloads, background play, and ad-free Music & YouTube Music access.

YouTube already has over 125 million YouTube Music and Premium subscribers. Now, by offering an affordable plan, YouTube is trying to attract more paying users. For people who mainly watch YouTube for videos—not music—Premium Lite finally offers a reasonable alternative.
