New Delhi: In a tragic incident, at least 18 people lost their lives, and several others were injured after chaos broke out at New Delhi Railway Station on Saturday night. The incident occurred as a massive crowd gathered following the announcement of a special train, leading to panic within 15-20 minutes. According to the reports, the situation was triggered by a huge rush of passengers arriving at the station to board special trains for the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj. Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his distress over the incident on X. He stated, “Distressed by the stampede at New Delhi Railway Station. My thoughts are with all those who have lost their loved ones. I pray that the injured have a speedy recovery.
